The iPhone 12 Pro is slated to launch this fall. The presentation, according to tradition, should take place in mid-September, if the coronavirus pandemic does not make its own adjustments. Judging by the information leaked to the network, the new product will differ not only in an updated design, but also in improved camera performance and a powerful processor.

Main characteristics

Design

Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max will be released in an updated, improved design: front and back panels of glass Gorilla Glass (some sources indicate the use of sapphire) and a stainless steel frame between them. According to rumors, at least 2 smartphones from the line will change their appearance radically - a rectangular frame (like the iPad Pro), instead of the traditional one - with rounded edges. The improvement mainly consists in the use of new casting technology for the production of the frame, which will help to reduce the negative impact of metal on the quality of the connection. According to Apple analyst Min-Chi Kuo, the use of new technologies will affect the production price (on average by 60%), which is likely to affect the final cost of the smartphone.

What will change:
In addition to the dimensions, the new model will be 5 mm thinner than the previous ones, the following possible changes should be noted:

• the SIM card slot will move to the left side;
• reduction of the side frame on the display by almost half (compared to the previous version - 11 Pro);
• the frame in the upper part will remain, but it will become much more compact;
• the speaker grill will change slightly;

The new series of smartphones will continue to use the Lightning port instead of USB-C.
Little is known about the color of the rear panel. It is possible that one of the smartphones in the new lineup will come with a new dark blue coating (similar to the iPhone 11 Pro, when the company introduced the gadget in a new green color).

All new gadgets in the line will receive an OLED display, regardless of the model (it is planned to release gadgets with a diagonal of 5.4, / 6.1, / 6.7 inches). More precise specifications have not yet been disclosed.But it's worth noting that some details about the 12 Pro line are already known. For the first time in its history, Apple will present a flagship smartphone with a smaller diagonal than in previous devices. It seems that the company has decided to listen to the opinions of users and, by popular demand, will release another compact version of the iPhone.

As for the Pro Max, the smartphone will come with a 6.7-inch screen, Samsung OLED display and support for Y-OCTA technology, and possibly XDR.

Another innovation is the tapered side frames. Watching videos or playing games will be much more comfortable. The top bezel will also become much more compact.
The refresh rate of new displays is 120 Hz, it is also possible to change the parameters manually, in the settings. For example, to view content or work in standard mode, it will be enough to set 60 HZ and the maximum - 120 HZ for games.

Camera

The development of the new series was not without improvement in the technical characteristics of the camera. The Pro Max 12 series will receive a 3-camera system (64-megapixel ultra-wide-angle and 12-megapixel two cameras), complemented by a LIDAR sensor. Plus a lens with 3x magnification (versus 2x for the 11 series), which will improve the macro shooting capabilities (from a distance of up to 2.2 m, the viewing angle will remain the same - 120 degrees).

The Smart HDR function can also be improved. Now it will be much easier to take high-quality and clear pictures even in poor lighting.

Well, the most important feature is the built-in 3 D-LIDAR camera, which will be appreciated by those who like to take pictures. This is the higher quality of portrait shots (separation of the subject from the background, depth, sharpness) and the ability to use the gadget in the so-called augmented reality. Users will be able to scan moving objects and use it in special applications.

According to rumors, the smartphone will be compatible with the new smart glasses, which are also scheduled to launch in 2020.

As for video shooting: the same 4K at 60 frames per second, extended dynamic range and stabilization (the functions of the latter are planned to be improved). Plus audio zoom for synchronizing sound with the video track. The only significant difference is the new stabilization technology with a movable camera sensor. This means that you can control (stabilize) the image on all 3 cameras - it is quite suitable even for filming an amateur film, not to mention short videos for social networks.

Processor and performance

The new smartphones will use the 5nm A14 Bionic processor, which is faster than its predecessors (this is indicated by the results of preliminary tests that hit the network), which means that there should be no problems with loading sites, watching videos. The same goes for games - quick response to commands, clear graphics even for demanding "toys" that require quick response.

Judging by the test results, the new processor can be used not only on smartphones, but also on more serious devices, such as the Mac book.

Battery and memory

It is quite possible that the battery capacity on new devices will be increased, again by analogy with the 11 series (on average, the batteries "lived" 5-6 hours longer than on smartphones of previous versions).

But you shouldn't expect something grand. The new iPhones will support the fifth generation network, which cannot but affect the battery life. On average, the phone will last about 20-22 hours with active use.

Fast and wireless charging - user choice. In the future, it is planned to release smartphones that support only wireless technologies.

In 2020 Apple will return to Qualcomm modem chips (previously the company used hardware from Intel) that will support 5G technology. For this, long-standing litigation between the two giants was even forgotten - the differences were settled in April last year.
