Review of the smartphone Honor V30 with the main characteristics

Under the pressure of sanctions, Huawei has released another flagship novelty - the Honor V30 smartphone. A presentation took place on November 26, 2019. Thus, the sub-brand is constantly proving its competitiveness in the global market. The company's products are in high demand among buyers. It is not yet known when the smartphone will appear in Russian stores. Let's talk about the device now, consider the characteristics, advantages and disadvantages of the model.

Huawei's Honor line

The first Honor smartphones went on sale in 2011. The novelty has become so popular that customers perceive it as a separate brand. In 2015, the cheapest models sold out in a matter of seconds. The line is distinguished by a powerful processor, high-quality characteristics, high-resolution cameras. Stylish design and ergonomics are at the top of the characteristics, because Honor is loved by young people and students. The company set a personal record three years ago, when 1,500,000 devices were sold in a couple of months.

New for November

At the presentation in China, 2 smartphones were presented: Honor V30 and V30 Pro. Both models are almost identical. They turned out to be stylish and interesting. Honor V30 is slightly cheaper, but the price does not reflect the technical parameters.

Design and appearance

The body of Honor V30 is made of tempered satin glass, pleasant, slightly soapy to the touch, with a matte solid color surface. Sandblasting allows you to make the glass colorless or colored. The model uses quite bright shades: deep blue Blue, orange Orange and others. The design differs from the flagships of the previous generation: on the covers there is an interesting unusual gradient pattern inherent in Honor devices. The smartphone is made in the form of a monoblock with thin aluminum frames. The triple camera block protrudes slightly on the back cover relative to the common surface. The i-Phone models have a similar camera design. The inscription "Honor" flaunts in the center. On the right side there is a button for adjusting the sound volume. Under it is a special notch - a fingerprint scanner. It works as an on / off button. This arrangement will be convenient for both right-handers and left-handers. The size of the case allows you to hold the smartphone with ease and comfort, despite the decent weight of 213 grams. On the left side there is a card slot. The front camera is located in the display, in the upper left part of it.

Display

The device has a capacitive touchscreen display with an IPS LCD matrix, which distinguishes 16 million shades and colors. The size of the diagonal is 6.4 inches, with a ratio of 19.5: 9, the usable area is sufficient - 101.4 cm2 due to the thin bezels. The pixel density of the screen at 398 Pixels per inch gives the picture smoothness. The screen resolution is 1080 x 2310 pixels in FullHD + format. A durable protective Gorilla Glass is installed on top of the screen.
The IPS LCD matrix has several advantages:

• gives a perfect white color;
• less damage to the eyes;
• has accurate color reproduction;
• when switching the brightness of the image, there is no screen flickering, which can impair vision and tire the eyes;
• has a long service life.

The screen has a good response time.

Processor and memory

The device is powered by the high-performance HiSilicon Kirin 990 chip using a 7 nm process technology. With this process technology, the chipset will not get too hot. The processor is eight-core, Octa-core with Cortex cores with artificial intelligence. Two new-generation Cortex-A76 cores operate at 2.86 GHz, the other two at 2.09 GHz. The other 4 Cortex-A55 cores are clocked at 1.86 GHz. The graphics video accelerator such as Mali-G76 MP16 from the British company ARM contains all the basic elements, the processing power is increased by 50%. The combination of Cortex-A76 cores with Mali architecture enables multitasking operations in a single clock cycle. At the same time, the battery charge will be consumed sparingly, according to the manufacturer, with such characteristics, the energy consumption is reduced by 40%. Artificial intelligence affects the operation of cameras and virtual assistants, optimizes the operation of the device as a whole.

The internal memory of the gadget is high: there will be two types of devices on the market - with 128 GB and 256 GB memory. There is no slot for expanding the memory capacity in the model. The device has 8 GB of RAM, which allows you to use multiple applications, web pages and files at the same time. Apps and pages will open quickly, there will be no crashes or freezes when playing games on medium and low settings. In terms of gaming, it should be noted that avid gamers need to purchase special gaming models - a premium model like the Honor V30 is best used to the maximum in other tasks.

Network technology and operating system

The smartphone operates in the bands GSM - 2G, HSPA - 3G and LTE - 4G. On 2G, the wavebands for SIM1 and SIM2 are indicated: 850/900/1800/1900. For 3G, the ranges 800/850/900/1700 (AWS) / 1900/2100 can be considered. Bands on LTE are not indicated yet. The data transfer rate in HSPA mode is 42.2 / 5.76 Mbps. They say on the Internet that a special modem can be built into the model to work in the 5G system. If the parameter is present, then it will not work in Russia - first you need to install 5th generation mobile networks.

Wireless technology allows you to use your smartphone anywhere in the world. The model has Bluetooth 5.0, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a / b / g / n / ac, an access point and Wi-Fi Direct with password protection.

As an additional convenient function, an NFC chip is built in to pay for purchases at the checkout counters of supermarkets without using a bank card. The chip has a Super prefix, which allows you to remember the card and access keys to it.
There is an infrared port for receiving and transmitting data - recently it has again become a fashionable feature among smartphone manufacturers.

The user can connect one of the installed navigation systems: GPS, dual-band A-GPS, GALILEO, QZSS, BDS, GLONASS. It will be difficult to get lost with such a device.
There is a small drawback in the gadget: there is no built-in antenna for receiving radio waves, you will not be able to listen to the radio.

The smartphone works by installing one or two Nano-SIM, with a dual standby mode. The housing has one slot with two cells. The smartphone runs on Android 10.0 operating system, without built-in Google services. Management is familiar, the interface is standard.

Wired connections and sound modes

The device has built-in USB 3.1 connectors for a charger, USB On-The-Go, Type-C 1.0 reversible connector. The latter allows you to charge other devices compatible with it from the device. You will not be able to listen to music with headphones on the gadget, there is no mini-jack with a diameter of 3.5 mm, as in most flagships. The model is equipped with a loudspeaker. A dedicated microphone helps to actively suppress noise.

Multimedia

The main triple camera is located at the back. Sony IMX600 wide lens with f / 1.7 aperture has a resolution of 60 Mpix, PDAF autofocus, OIS. The second 16 megapixel camera with f / 2.2 aperture is ultra wide-angle. In the third camera at 2 Mpix, a macro camera is allocated, a depth sensor works. Features and modes include panorama, high-quality HDR shooting, LED flash.

The output video has 3 formats: 2160p / 30, 1080p / 30, 720p / 960 frames per second, with gyro-EIS digital image stabilization to improve quality.

The front camera is dual: the first with a resolution of 24 MPix, aperture of 2.0 and a 3D TOF camera for long-range images with HDR shooting function. The video comes out at 1080p / 30 frames per second. The selfie camera is rumored to have autofocus, which no other model in the world has.
The manufacturer guarantees excellent photos in low light conditions and when shooting at night. AR Magic Photo adds volume to flat shapes in photos.

Additional functions

The gadget is equipped with a proximity sensor to save charging, an accelerometer, a compass, a gyroscope that can stabilize images during shooting.

Battery

The model has a built-in non-removable Li-Po 4000 mAh battery as standard. Such a capacity holds a charge for two days; with active use, the smartphone will be discharged faster. There is a fast charging function with a power of 22.5 watts.

Price

The cost of a smartphone in China will be approximately 30,100 and 33,700 rubles for a 128GB / 8GB and 256GB / 8GB device, respectively. It's too early to talk about the price in Russia.
