Review of the smartphone Nokia C1 with the main characteristics

Review of the smartphone Nokia C1 with the main characteristics

Mobile devices are no longer a luxury; now they are more and more a vital necessity. It's getting harder and harder to do without a quick call at the slightest need. Manufacturers have formed their attitude to this trend: the release of expensive flagships and the replenishment of budget lines have become equivalent. Demand is growing and production is growing along with it. New items among inexpensive devices began to appear on the smart technology market more and more often.

One of these new products is the Nokia C1. The super budget option was presented by the company in December 2019. Its cost will be about $ 60 and this is one of the lowest price steps for a smartphone. Time will tell how users will react and whether there will be demand. But the manufacturer's name should have a positive effect on sales. Nokia has always stood for reliability and endurance. Whether these indicators have remained the same can be seen from customer reviews.

Nokia C1

Classic design, harmony of size (147.6 * 71.4 * 8.7 mm) and weight (155 grams). Why pretentiousness and arrogance in the external design, if the device is intended to be a "workhorse". Convenient dimensions for any purpose. The smartphone will fit comfortably in the palm of your hand, fit into any pocket, and in the horizontal position it will perfectly serve as a display for viewing any files and easy Internet surfing. The weight is more than sufficient: it does not drag on the pocket, but it is also felt in the hand. It will be difficult to lose and not notice.

Smooth lines of rounded corners of the body, familiar to Nokia bezels: narrow on the sides and wider at the top and bottom. The top frame houses the speaker, flash and front camera. The back panel is smooth, the top center is the main camera and LED flash, below the brand name. The side panels have reversed roles, this is a bit uncommon, but quite bearable: on the left is the on / on button, on the right are slots for sim cards and flash memory.

On the top side panel there is an irreplaceable 3.5 headset jack, the bottom - a place for a microUSB charger.

Available in two classic colors - black and red. The colors are not diluted, rich and clear. The body is made of high-quality plastic, but it does not have super protection against mechanical damage, so scuffs and scratches will inevitably appear over time. Although there are covers and silicone bumpers for this, which will easily solve this problem.

Advantages:
  • Convenient dimensions;
  • Classic design in two colors.
Disadvantages:
  • The control button is located unusually on the left side;
  • Plastic case;
  • The inevitability of mechanical flaws in the future (the use of a cover will help out).

Device display

Type - IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with up to 16 million colors and shades. This type of screens is standardly included in budget smartphones. Not a bad solution in terms of quality and cost ratio. Acceptable image transmission, eye protection, anti-glare system in direct sunlight.

Display size 5.45 inches or 76.7 sq. Cm. The ratio of this parameter to the phone body as a whole is ~ 72.7%. Pixel resolution 480 x 960 at an aspect ratio of 18: 9 (~ 197 ppi density).

These characteristics are great for any user purpose: comfortable reading, viewing photos and videos, convenient Internet surfing. Good viewing angles also contribute to this.

There is protection against mechanical damage in case of shock or falling - tempered glass.

Advantages:
  • Acceptable screen size;
  • The frames around do not create any unfavorable conditions for perception;
  • High-quality color rendering;
  • Good viewing angles;
  • Screen protectors are provided;
  • The harmonious 18: 9 ratio makes the display suitable for all kinds of user activities.
Disadvantages:
  • The resolution is only 480 x 960 pixels, and therefore the clarity and clarity of the picture will suffer.

Platform and operating system

The super-budget smartphone was equipped with a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor, the name of which remained unrevealed. But it's worth noting that it supports both cameras' LED flashes. Presumably this is still MediaTek. It is difficult to characterize in more detail the chipset, the exact origin of which is unknown.

The operating system is Android 9.0 Pie (Go edition). This pure Android was originally created for use in inexpensive smarts with up to 1 GB of RAM. Its main features are named:

  • Expanding the capabilities of the drive;
  • Accelerated loading of the operating system and installed applications;
  • Availability of new security features, including a thorough check at boot;
  • A monitoring system is active in order to track the information consumed.

Taken together, this is a great solution to common problems faced by entry-level smartphone users: performance lags, insufficient storage space, data management and device security.

Memory Nokia C1

Available RAM is only 1 GB. This may not be enough for the stable operation of the operating system that came with the device. Android 9.0 Pie, although a pure version, requires more space to work correctly. Built-in memory 16 GB. This is the standard volume for this class of devices. In addition, there is the possibility of expansion via microSD up to 64 GB. There is a dedicated slot for additional memory.

Advantages:
  • Correctly selected operating system regulates the stable operation of the phone;
  • Increased level of performance for this price range;
  • Extended storage capacity;
  • Go edition apps simplify and improve the use of many programs;
  • There is a separate microSD slot for expanding the internal memory;
  • Maximum expandable memory capacity up to 64GB.
Disadvantages:
  • The name of the chipset remains classified information, which complicates its characterization;
  • Small amount of RAM.

Characteristics of cameras

Nokia's new budget smartphone is, first of all, a device designed for affordability. Its parameters strictly correspond to its class and nothing supernatural should be expected. That is why both cameras do not differ in super abilities, but perform narrowly limited functions at the most primitive level.

Main camera

Location on the rear panel, at the top of it, in the center. A single 5 megapixel camera is supplemented only by an LED flash without additional sensors.Despite the fact that you don't have to wait for something grand, you can still take pictures and shoot. Led flash creates favorable conditions for shooting with limited lighting. Even dynamic photos come out in relatively normal quality. Taking into account, of course, the provided parameters.

Front-camera

The classic arrangement is at the top of the bezel above the display. There is also a separate LED flash, which improves the brightness and quality of the resulting images. The intelligence of the device has not been identified and does not have any improvement in the resulting images. There is a primitive photo editor with which you can eliminate some of the shortcomings.

Only very good lighting can save the cleanliness and clarity of pictures. Focusing takes time, so you have to wait a bit between shots. Even two separate flashes cannot significantly affect the quality if the camera itself is of low resolution.

Advantages:
  • Both cameras have their own LED flash, which in a sense solves the problem of photo quality at low resolution lenses;
  • Automatic flash mode makes it much easier to accomplish a user-defined task.
Disadvantages:
  • Low resolution main and front cameras;
  • The quality of the pictures leaves much to be desired, even with the productivity of the provided flash;
  • There is no intelligent image correction capabilities;
  • There is no sensor responsible for depth.

Working autonomy and battery

Quality meets value. This should be borne in mind when considering any budget-class device.

Removable lithium-ion battery with a volume of 2500 mAh. The battery itself is endowed with fast charging properties. This feature is characteristic of lithium-ion systems. Self-discharge depends on the temperature of the device. Given the completed volume, there is no point in waiting for excellent performance. But the smartphone can normally work in passive talk mode for about 5-6 hours. Internet surfing in active mode, undoubtedly, will reduce the charge level faster, but it will also last 2-4 hours, depending on activity.

Advantages:
  • The battery design is removable. Many see this as a significant advantage;
  • Battery type - lithium-ion. Definitely has its advantages in operation.
Disadvantages:
  • Small volume;
  • Overheating possible during device activity.

Having considered all the parameters and characteristics of the new super-budget smartphone from Nokia, we can say for sure that the task of creating an affordable device has been completed. Undoubtedly, this model will find its buyers. In terms of the price class, the quality of the phone is adequate, but it can be easily used in work.
