The beginning of 2020 has delighted the world with yet another super-budget novelty from Samsung. If we compare the gadget Samsung Galaxy A11 with its predecessor, then we should immediately note the presence of two main cameras. But this did not affect the price in any way. Nevertheless, a number of disadvantages still stand out, which are offset by advantages. The audience was pleased, but will the device be able to compete with new products from Xiaomi and Huawei?

Considering the latest models from Samsung, the conclusion suggests itself that the brand has made the front camera embedded into the screen its chip. Early forecasts said that such technologies will be inherent only in flagship and mid-budget models, but the manufacturer boldly pushed all the limits and exceeded the expectations of its fans. This fact can be called the main and most impressive one, which may affect the level of sales in the future.

The bezels of the bezel are not narrow. Indents can be observed from the side edges to the "chin". However, the Galaxy A11 has earned the title of the cheapest smartphone with a circle cutout. It should be noted that the front camera is not located in the middle, but has shifted slightly to the left, reminiscent of the models from Redmi and Honor. So the look doesn't match the price point the phone is in, and that's in a good way.

Everything else remained as before. Two buttons on the right side, slots on the left. The fingerprint scanner is still located on the rear plastic cover. Vertically, one after another, there is a triple main camera, adjacent to an LED flash. In general, the design principle remains the same, except for some small details.

Color solution: black, white, red and blue. Not many, but now most phones only come in two colors, so the Galaxy A11 can be said to offer its customers a wider choice. The color variety is standard, i.e. users will not be able to find anything exotic.

Dimensions are acceptable: 161.4x76.3x8 mm, the weight was 177 grams. These parameters are considered typical for this year's devices. It feels quite light in the hand. The only complaint can be made against the material from which the case is made. The plastic is cheap, which can be seen almost immediately. When pressed, it sags slightly, spoiling the overall impression.

Display characteristics

The large screen no longer amazes anyone, but even here Samsung has always surprised the audience: in its smartphones it used a Super AMOLED matrix, which is not typical for budget models. However, the Samsung Galaxy A11 for some reason is not equipped with such an advantage, it got a cheap IPS matrix. Here, the expectations of many buyers were not met.

Nevertheless, from the point of view of economy, it is difficult to find fault with such a decision, because the cost of a smartphone is appropriate. But even such arguments do not cheer up. The low resolution 720x1560 pixels does not fit with such a large diagonal, making it a serious drawback. During use, users will have a constant feeling that they have the cheapest product of the company in their hands. The graininess is annoying, and the highlights around the notch while watching the video spoil the overall impression. Even the display parameters of the Redmi 8, which are no different in cost, are much more impressive.

Shooting quality of the main and front cameras

The brand, as a rule, pays special attention to the quality of photos and videos. The triple camera forces you to take a closer look at each of its components in order to understand how the manufacturer has managed to meet the expectations of the audience.

However, first you should pay attention to the embedded front camera. The front sensor has a resolution of 8 megapixels. The parameters are not striking, so there is no reason to hope for ultra-clear pictures. But insufficient lighting noticeably spoils the quality of photos. For undemanding consumers, this option will be suitable, but lovers of high-quality shooting will definitely remain dissatisfied.

But the main camera has clearer sensors. The main resolution was 13 megapixels. The wide-angle camera boasts 5MP. The resolution of the portrait sensor was 2 megapixels, which cannot be called a high indicator.

The main peephole of the camera does not cause any complaints. Shots come out vivid and maintain natural colors. Thanks to a good aperture, maximum light is captured at night, resulting in higher quality photos. However, the main disappointment was also hidden here. The wide-angle lens was not powerful enough. The conclusion suggests itself that the manufacturer preferred the simplest sensor. Yes, and portrait photography was not very pleased. the depth measurement sensor has not particularly outstanding parameters.

The entry-level price point rarely offers anything worthwhile. The Galaxy A11 isn't special either. Although the solid Snapdragon 439 processor in the Galaxy A01 gave hope that the new product would be more advanced, a miracle did not happen. The quality matches the price of the phone.

However, the integrated Exynos 7884 processor eased the situation a bit. Its work is based on 8 cores, where the clock speed was 1.8 GHz. As a complement comes ARM Mali-G71 graphics. But such indicators do not contribute to the gameplay in any way. The performance is significantly lower than the Galaxy A01.

There are two configuration options:

• 2/32 GB;
• 3/32 GB.

At present, it would be foolish to choose the first option as RAM is simply not enough. For comfortable use of even simple applications, you will need at least 3 GB of RAM. So the first sentence can be safely deleted from your wish list. The lower cost will not be justified.

Although the amount of built-in memory is not pleasing, you shouldn't be upset. The gadget is equipped with a microSD card slot, which is considered common for modern smartphones. Lack of free space will not be an obstacle, becausethis space can be expanded many times with a memory card. The integration of an NFC sensor would be a great addition, but here, too, the brand decided to save money.

Battery capacity

In recent years, Samsung has distinguished itself from other companies by its battery capacity. So, the new model also received a 4000 mAh battery. A great addition is support for fast charging, which is provided by the included 15W power supply. A full charge will take about 1 hour. 30 minutes, which is considered a good indicator in modern times.

Going on sale and initial cost

The presentation of the new model took place on March 14, 2020. However, no precise announcements have been made about the release of the smartphone and its final price.

The initial configuration is expected to cost $ 140. In Russia, this value will be at least 13,000 rubles. But, as already mentioned, the amount of RAM in this configuration is too small, so you should count on a higher cost. According to preliminary estimates, 3 GB will cost 15,000 rubles.

Should you give your preference to the Samsung Galaxy A11 smartphone

Power users can't help but notice that the failure of 2018 had a big impact on the company's development. The A-line of budget devices has essentially "died". Now we can observe the improvement of the situation, highlighting a number of advantages.

As you can see, there were also some drawbacks.

The direct competitor of the novelty is Redmi 8. But in comparison with the Chinese device, noticeable advantages can be distinguished, for example, a triple camera, an original cutout for the front camera. This alignment enhances the positive experience of using the device.

But, despite a number of these facts, Redmi has been on sale for six months, and sales are still at an acceptable level. But by the release date of Samsung, the next model of a competitor may arrive in time, expectations from which are very high. Therefore, buying an A11 may not be a viable decision. It seems to us that many buyers will prefer to wait for the presentation of models from the main competitors in order to compare prices and parameters.
