Smartwatch Huawei Watch Genuine Leather Strap - pros and cons

Smartwatch Huawei Watch Genuine Leather Strap - pros and cons

Huawei Watch Genuine Leather Strap is a smart watch that will not compromise or violate the integrity of a business person's image in any way. Classic is a style that transcends time and fashion. The main thing is that the classic design comes complete with a sapphire screen and a two-day battery.

This watch is solid, the battery life is pretty good for a watch, but the Android Wear software still has a few shortcomings. The lack of an ambient light sensor means the watch cannot automatically adjust brightness.

The body of the Huawei Watch is framed with beautiful lines, especially the lower part stands out from other similar watch models. Nevertheless, the Android Wear operating system still looks damp - there is a delay in the receipt of notifications (a few seconds later than the notifications on the smartphone).

Software equipment

The Huawei Watch runs as smoothly as any other Qualcomm Snapdragon processor with 400-inch Android Wear. The animation runs smoothly without braking. This watch responds quickly and the Bluetooth connection with the smartphone is solid.

During testing, it was found that the gadget switches to Wi-Fi sync when it goes out of the smartphone's Bluetooth range.

This is one of the smoothest smartwatches. The transition from Bluetooth to Wi-Fi and vice versa was not noticeable, which cannot be said about some others.

Huawei Watch uses display power saving mode when the screen is inactive. It usually looks the same as an active display with no moving elements or background.

It can also be difficult to determine when the watch is actually charging. Huawei did not turn on the charging indicator in full screen mode, instead, for a small lightning bolt in the battery icon, there was only a place in the active display. For example, the Moto 360 and Apple Watch both enter a special nightstand mode when connected to a charger that turns the watch into a bedside clock.

Battery life

Battery life is short. Don't forget the charger on long trips. Huawei has calculated that a 300mAh battery will last two days even with the display always on, which is pretty good for an Android Wear watch. Unfortunately, in reality, things are a little worse - the clock really works for more than 24 hours, but the tests were never close to two days.

Testing

A test was run with the brightness set to level 4 and the watch showed similar results for about 30 hours. For the next test, the brightness was lowered to level 3. The test began on Monday at 15:30.

The watch lasted 24 hours (as expected) without issue, but by Tuesday at 5:30 pm the charge was down to 30 percent. A few hours later, already at 23:30, it was even lower - up to 12 percent. At this point, the battery lasted 32 hours, but at about 8 am on Wednesday morning, the clock was "dead".

The Huawei watch can last for about a day and a half. These results are consistent with other Android Wear devices and the Apple Watch, but far worse than the Pebble Time Steel, which lasted a full week. When the power indicator was turned off, the battery life increased to about two and a half days. But in most cases, users prefer to leave this feature on and charge the battery overnight.

Charging

The charger attaches magnetically to the back and has a standard USB connector for connecting to a computer or charger.

The watch is charged using a magnetic dock that connects to four contacts on the back of the watch. The fast charge function will provide up to 80% battery life in just 45 minutes, and a full charge will take a maximum of an hour and a half.

Design

The Huawei Watch has a 11.3mm stainless steel case. The Huawei watch comes with a collection of beautiful viewing wallpapers.

The base model comes with a black leather strap that looks pretty classic and feels comfortable on the wrist. The watch has standard straps, which does not limit the user to just the collection that Huawei offers.

The manufacturer has designed this model as a classic design watch for a business person with a stainless steel case, a round screen and a pusher at two o'clock. Other watches, including the LG Watch Urbane and Motorola Moto 360, have similar designs, the difference being that the Huawei watch is much thinner.

One watch and variety of styles

Correctly selected smartwatches become part of the user's corporate identity. HUAWEI WATCH allows you to create a bespoke watch that expresses your personal look. Choose from a range of silicone, thin leather or stainless steel straps. Once the user has such a perfect watch, they can dress it for every occasion with a variety of custom made straps.

The classic design, thin bezels, round, sapphire screen, two-day battery life and heart rate monitor make this high-performance gadget a little more expensive than other brands.

Classic

True style will never compromise the overall image. HUAWEI WATCH combines classic Swiss design with smart technology to create a durable and reliable watch. The excellent full-screen display provides the user with a “window into the world”. They are very comfortable to wear. And most importantly, you quickly get used to them, since in the process even more advantages appear.

Display

The AMOLED display has a diagonal of 1.4 inches and has a scratch-resistant screen cover. Sapphire crystal additionally cut with sapphire crystals.

The Full Circle Face element button is always on the screen. The 42mm display is round - there is no flat tire shape and the bezel and bumps are small. The screen is simple and can easily pass like an attractive classic watch.

The external display is always on and the text is easy to read at a glance. The Huawei Watch has the highest resolution screen. The screen also features an Android Wear display with a pixel density of 286 ppi, making it the clearest of any gadget. The design lacks any jagged lines or others that make the watch look completely like a smartwatch. An excellent choice for the user who does not want a futuristic accessory, but rather the look of a standard watch.

The screen is also protected by a sapphire crystal, which is used in high-quality traditional watches, as well as in the Apple Watch. Sapphire is very hard and much more scratch-resistant than tempered glass such as Corning Gorilla Glass, which is used on most other similar smart models.

Communication capabilities and functionality

Android Wear also has some flaws.For example, the latest information from a user search in Google is not always provided in a timely manner in additional alert blocks on a smartwatch.

Some notifications are very useful, such as traffic warnings during the end of the working day, but others appear randomly and may be considered more annoying than helpful.

Even features that are supposed to improve your communication comfort can sometimes be frustrating.

As mentioned, the Huawei Watch has Wi-Fi connectivity, which means you can continue to receive emails and other notifications even when the smartphone is far away. Some actions work well - during testing, the user received notifications, although he left his smartphone. But others, like trying to find directions on Google Maps, require you to use your smartphone.

There is also no way to set up a Wi-Fi connection on the watch without first entering a password using your phone. It would be better if there was a way to print it on the watch, or if the watch could sync previously saved networks from the phone to the smartwatch.

The bottom line is that while it is possible to use some of the Android Wear features over Wi-Fi, it is still best for maximum performance when the watch is synced to a smartphone.

Alerts

Huawei, which recently partnered with Google to make the excellent Nexus 6P phablet, announced its first Android Wear smartwatch in March, although it took another six months to go on sale. Two months after the US, this model arrives in the UK as one of the most expensive Android Wear watches, a direct contender for the Apple Watch.

Huawei Watch will display personalized Google Now maps with information about weather, transportation, sports events, and more. The user will receive notifications for things like text messages, emails, and calls from your iPhone or Android device right on their wrist. These alerts and notifications are very large and fill the entire screen. Even when a new one arrives, it blocks the bottom third of the watch screen. This can be annoying, especially since Huawei has pre-installed the clock with 40 unique and customizable screens.

To give you a better idea of what it means to use an Android Wear device, here's what is displayed when you look at the screen. For example, a letter from a colleague, the sheet below shows how many steps have been taken today, the next one shows the rating of the most recent game in the New York Jets, then the weather in New York is displayed, and the final shows the stock prices of the monitored companies.

Let's sum up

Advantages:
  • Qualcomm Snapdragon with 400-inch Android Wear
  • Wi-Fi and Bluetooth communication;
  • Compatible with smartphones on Android OS, IOS and newer;
  • The screen is protected by a sapphire coating;
  • Classic design;
  • The ability to change the straps for a specific image;
  • Hand-polished body and flawless lines;
  • High-quality 1.4 ″ round display;
  • Smooth operation of standard applications and the ability to download additional necessary ones.
Disadvantages:
  • The battery does not last 2 days;
  • There is no external light sensor, that is, the brightness is not automatically adjusted;
  • The cost is slightly higher than the models of other companies.

The Huawei Watch does not include automatic brightness adjustment. There are five brightness levels, one of which is the lowest and the fifth is the highest. When tested with brightness set to 5, the power-on function was always active, but this does not mean that the brightness is always at its highest level. After about 5 seconds of inactivity, the screen on the Huawei watch will dim to preserve battery life. Alas, the highest brightness setting is too high for the watch and the battery is completely drained in a maximum of 30 hours.

This smartwatch is comfortable to wear. It looks great on the hand. Features a high resolution, fully round sapphire crystal. The launch uses the latest version of Android Wear. Includes Wi-Fi for some phone-free features.
